Hello Everyones!
Hoping that you had a happy holiday season, receive, with these few lines of reflection, our best wishes for this new year!
A newborn child shows us the way … Our kids show us the way … what if we listen to them?
Reflections for 2020…
Climatic alterations exist… despite the contradictory, naive or deliberately misleading statements, climatosceptic tribunes in vogue in the media.
Our friends and correspondents around the world, … in Canada, in Italy, in Spain, in the United States, in Brazil, in Chile, in several African countries, in various regions of France … have lived the experience of changes / deregulations weather, sometimes risking their lives, sometimes several times during the year…
But … as the comedians tell us, “everything is fine, the boat is sinking normally” …
If we listen to the most rigorous scientists who, since 1960 (!!!), launch “alerts”, it is undoubtedly necessary to be “disruptive”, that is to say to change the current, on the road, modifying our individual behavior, our collective development and using the planet’s resources economically and sustainably. The pollution we generate, neglect and waste have become collective “environmental crimes”.
Let’s become eco-consumers, responsible consumers.
The most credible scientists have alerted us for about sixty years (almost 3 generations …):
- thousands of scientists (biologists, environmentalists, agronomists,… since 1960),
- Rachel Carson (Silent Spring – 1962)
- the Club of Rome (from 1968)
- Barry Commoner (What land will we leave for our children? – 1969),
- Professor René Dumont, pioneer of agroecology in France (1974),
- the French climatology laboratories (from 1990),
- The first Earth Summit, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil (1992)
- repeated calls from G.I.E.C. since 1998,…
and the cry of President Chirac at the Johannesburg summit: “Our house is burning and we are looking elsewhere” – 2002),
The first COP took place in 1995 in Berlin. Since then, conferences have followed one another, without ambition, without courage, without results, despite the warnings of scientists, despite the timid commitments of civil society.
There is, however, hope, hopes … Lucid young people act, but the media rarely report their actions, however remarkable and exemplary: planting millions of trees in various countries, recycling plastic, cleaning rivers, beaches (or peaks) ) polluted by careless tourists, visits to isolated and / or abandoned people…
These young people invite us to act more and speak less…
Alas, the political leaders and the societal decision-makers, are entangled in a cruelly paralyzing and… criminal indifference (crime against “the Living”).
The passivity of the majority of the citizens that we all are, in a selfish preoccupation with an individualist economy, is also criminal (crime against “the Living”).
Society, chloroformed by advertising that has become the official religion, revolts the most lucid, the most conscious young people, who seek to build a world based on more justice, more solidarity, more truth.
What if in 2020, we listened more to their anguish and acted to help them build a sharing society, a greener planet?
Benevolence is an eminently human quality, an eminently spiritual quality, which we would be well advised to implement in our everyday life, in our behavior, both public and private.
Let’s stop consuming the useless, wasting resources. Let us implement “voluntary simplicity” also called “happy sobriety”. It is undoubtedly the way to happiness. In any case, this is what we wish for our loved ones, our friends and ourselves…
To all, a 2020 year filled with serenity.
